A usable control explains what it does and exposes its state. Clear browser interactions help people and provide better evidence for an agent following a task.
Check the visitor’s path
- Use buttons for actions and links for navigation. Give each an understandable name.
- Associate form labels with their inputs. State required information before submission.
- Expose selected variants, unavailable options, and validation messages in readable text.
- After an action, show an observable result: the chosen size, updated total, saved report, or specific error.
Try adding an unavailable size. Can a visitor tell what failed and how to recover? That answer matters as much as the successful button click.
A check you can run
Add one selected variant, inspect the cart line, and repeat with an unavailable option. Confirm the quantity, price, and selection are observable in the result. An animation alone does not establish which cart state was saved.
