Shipping can turn a suitable product into an unsuitable purchase. Explain what is known before checkout and which details require a destination.
What the shopper needs
- Show shipping regions, exclusions, thresholds, and the currency used for any minimum order.
- Distinguish dispatch estimates from delivery estimates. Neither should be presented as a guaranteed arrival date.
- Explain when taxes and delivery charges become calculable, especially for international orders.
- If a budget is exceeded, capture the item price, shipping amount, destination context, and observed total.
Illustrative example: USD 48 plus USD 12 shipping totals USD 60. Showing that charge earlier helps a buyer rule the item out sooner.
A check you can run
Use a sample basket and destination to trace when the buyer learns the delivered total. Then find the return eligibility for that item. Record every condition that appears only after the point where it would affect a decision.
